SiSiB organo-functional alkoxysilanes can react with organic polymers to attach trialkoxysilyl groups to the backbone of the polymer.
The silane can then react with moisture to crosslink the silane into a stable three-dimensional siloxane structure. This mechanism can be used to crosslink plastics, especially polyethylene and other organic resins, such as acrylic and polyurethane, to impart durability, water-resistance and heat resistance to paints, silane coatings and adhesives.
