SiSiB® PC8131 is a colorless, low-viscosity liquid. SiSiB® PC8131 is regarded as trifunctional since all three alkoxy groups can hydrolyze.
SiSiB® PC8131 phenylsilane also contains a phenyl group that exhibits excellent thermal stability and brings flexibility to sol-gel coating systems. It is the quivalent of Dow's Z-6124, ShinEtsu's KBM-103 silane.

SiSiB® PC8131 is used to modify the suface of inorganic fillers such as wollastonite and aluminum trihydroxide. It makes the surface of these inorganic fillers more hydrophobic and thus increases their dispersability in mineral-filled silicone polymers. SiSiB® PC8131 is especially suited for polymers that are processed at elevated temperatures. SiSiB® PC8131 reduces the viscosity of the polymer melt.
In many sol-gel applications SiSiB® PC8131 is partially hydrolyzed to form a preproduct that can be further crosslinked using temperature. This pre-hydrolysis is often made in conjunction with alkyl silanes (SiSiB® PC5132) or other silanes (e.g. SiSiB® PC3100), silicic acid esters, or even an aqueous silica sol.
SiSiB® PC8131 reacts faster with water than SiSiB® PC8132.
SiSiB® PC8131 phenyltrimethoxysilane is supplied in 200Kg steel drum.
In the unopened original container SiSiB® PC8131 phenyltrimethoxysilane has a shelf life of one year in a dry and cool place.
